Overview
The J740 is a compact, amplified, DC-coupled linear single-channel optical-to-electrical converter that allows fast timing and logic-level signals to be transported via fiberoptic levels to take advantage of the superior speed, attenuation, and EMI characteristics of optical fiber.
It features greater than 1 GHz bandwidth,1 volt/mW sensitivity (0.5 V/mW into 50 ohms) and is available in 850, 1310, and 1550 nm versions. It is suitable for use with single- or multi-mode fiber inputs.
Features
- Small, rugged extruded package allows the e/o transition to be located wherever most convenient.
- Bandwidth > 1 GHz
- Accepts optical inputs from the Highland e/o converters or compatible sources.
- Uses commonly available 62/125-m, 850-nm, ST-connectorized multimode fiber. The J740-3 and -5 versions are suited for use with singlemode or multimode fiber at 1310 and 1550 nm.
- Provides fast, DC-Coupled analog conversion of optical signals.
- Timing link jitter typically below 8 ps RMS when used with companion J724 Electrical/Optical Converter.
- Ideal accessory for Highland Model P400 Digital Delay/Pulse Generator.
- Compatible with Highland optical transmitter products.
